Sony BRAVIA KDL-26L5000 HDTV Review
Most people dream on having the biggest TVs sold on the market today because they often have the most advanced
features in addition to the bigger screen-size, however, not all people can make that dream come true because those
TVs either cost too much or are too big to fit in their living room. But there are high-definition TV displays that
measure lower than 30-inchs and incorporate similar breakthrough features such as the Sony BRAVIA KDL-26L5000
HDTV.

Technical Features
The KDL-26L5000 is part of the HD family that can display 720p images or upscaled 1080p images when the HDMI or
component port is used. It maintains the 16:9 aspect ratio so any HD television broadcasts should display fine. The
13,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio also adds to the value of the TV by making the visuals clearer.
It is further boosted by the Advanced Contrast Enhancer which works in real-time making adjustments to the scene
based on their brightness level. Combined with the dynamic backlight control, power consumption is also saved
automatically while making sure that the visuals are portrayed with clarity. This aspect alone makes the
KDL-26L5000 exceed the Energy Star 3.0 requirements.
Technologies
The KDL-26L5000 doesn't really have many technologies to offer compared to the larger TVs, but the BRAVIA Sync
capability remains and that makes it good for controlling other Sony branded devices that are connected to the HDMI
port. For instance, Handycam camcorders that are connected via HDMI can be directly controlled by using the TV's
remote control. An on-screen display makes the controlling easy as well.
It also doubles as a good multimedia TV when a Blu-ray disc player or Playstation 3 system is plugged in. The
24p True Cinema mode makes sure that Blu-ray titles are played the way that they were intended to. The cinematic
picture quality can be witnessed with this TV in terms of imagery and motion. There are three HDMI connections that
are all 1080/p capable which should be enough to link all the major devices in the home theater.
Extra Features
The extra features isn't really plentiful either, but it is filled with additional connection ports including a
PC input port so the KDL-26L5000 can serve as a large wide-screen computer monitor. It also has two HD component
ports that are 1080/60i capable as well in addition to the previously mentioned 3 HDMI ports.
Reception
The Sony BRAVIA KDL-26L5000 received some rave reviews from customers that praised it for its exceptional image
quality and smooth sound. Many have also found the TV to be very easy to setup and the price fit most of the
peoples' budgets for a medium-sized display.
Bottom Line
Overall, the Sony BRAVIA KDL-26L5000 does its job in the 26-inch category by being a simple TV displaying decent
image quality and being compatible with the Blu-ray players and latest gaming consoles. It also deserves some extra
points for focusing on the power saving features. Currently priced at under $500, the KDL-26L5000 proves to be
better than a lot of the other similarly-sized units.
